We all have an innate ability to see opportunities. But like all latent abilities, it’s activated by the pressures of life. Most of us have to be pushed by situations to the point where we can see that inherent opportunity.

The widow in the last article’s story was pushed by circumstances. Her husband was dead, and she was about to lose her two sons. She went to the Prophet crying,

“Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD, but the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.”

The prophet asks her a question, “What shall I do for you? Tell me; what have you in the house?” –

Notice how the prophet responds, He doesn’t’ tell her ‘go out and get something,’ or ‘go back to school,’ or ‘go learn a new trade.’

No, he asks a simple question, ‘what’s in your house, What do you have right now? The opportunity of a lifetime was in what she already had in her house.

The lady says,  ‘I have a little olive oil.’ And the man of God tells her, ‘this is what I want you to do, go to all your neighbors, borrow as many jars as you can.’ Notice he doesn’t tell her how many.

So together with her sons they go out and collect as many jars as they could. They follow the prophet’s instructions and lock themselves up. She starts pouring the oil and suddenly she has an olive oil plant. The oil keeps flowing filling up all the jars.

Finally, she tells her boys, ‘Hey, give me another jar,’ but they say ‘we don’t have any more jars, they are all filled up.’

Now check this out, there was more oil, from where that came from, they just didn’t have enough jars.- They did not collect enough jars, if they had, they could have had more oil.

A lot of times that’s what happens to most of us. We get an opportunity but limit ourselves, God can only expand us, to the level of our beliefs.

If you believe that all you can do is a little something, that’s what you will get. God gives us according to the measure of our faith. Anytime you get an opportunity to do something different you’ve got to open up your mind to limitless possibilities.
