We are on a journey, a series of articles to help you crack the money code. To help you become more, create more and attract more money. When you do, definitely become wealthier, healthier and happier.

So, how do you crack the money code? Today’s answer is in one word, — value. Your value determines your level in life. But first, do you even know if you have a value? And why should you become more valuable?

As humans, we live at different levels of life. Do you know that you can’t change your life’s level until you change how you think?

Watch your thoughts:

Here is my first nugget for you:

To get to a new level, shift how your mindset think differently, you can’t be thinking poor and expecting rich, it’s like planting lemons and waiting to harvest oranges, it just doesn’t happen.

Lao Tzu, that ancient Chinese philosopher advised all who care to listen and heed, he said,

“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”

He wasn’t too far away from the scriptures. The Bible summarizes, in Proverbs 23:7, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…”

But thoughts alone won’t get you nothing. That’s why we have poor philosophers.

Work diligently

The second nugget is work. Meticulous, focused and structured work. In the last article I mentioned how to have structured work.

I mentioned that you’ve got to focus on three to five things and accomplish them every single day. That’s structure, that’s aiming at a goal.

Your work must be aiming at something. You need a target, a goal. But a goal needs grounding. That’s why you need to know your desire, know what you want.

When you have a target, a goal, and a right desire, you are ready to go to the next level, that brings us to the next golden nugget, — Clarity of Purpose.

Do you know how to determine your clarity of purpose?

Your value is hidden in your clarity of purpose. The reason most people have a hard time determining what value they have is that they don’t have clarity of who or what they are.

You have to have clarity on your desires, know who you want to become. Clarity means knowing what you should be focusing on, knowing what you should be doing, knowing why you are on earth in the first place!

Clarity of Purpose is tied into your Past

But how do you get to know who you are?

I recently attended a Men’s conference, and you know what happens at men’s conferences, its hard man talk.

A friend of mine Noah Washington talked about understanding purpose, he said if you want to piece together your life, then look into your past with a critical eye, don’t just look at where you come from — your parents, or caregivers, but where you born, what you were named, and the environment that shaped your thinking.

Now that was miles away from philosophical thinking, where we are told to forget the past and focus on the present to attain our future.

But Noah was right, because he backed his statement with evidence from successful people who attained success by going back into the past.

He quoted Steve Jobs who said, ‘to innovate you have to look into the past and connect the dots.’ It’s a known fact that you are a product of your past, everything going on in your life comes from your past. So if you want to get clarity of purpose look at what happened to you the past.

Create a timeline, start from where and when you were born, who you were named, yes there something in your name that determines your destiny.

Ever wondered why Jews are meticulous about naming children? I have been studying under a Jewish rabbi and he says, names is how they know somebody’s occupation.

Read the second part of this article to find out what your name has to do with cracking the money code.
